HKGS ZOOM Cafe – Experimental Interactions with Nature in the City

Invited by Hong Kong Gardening Society, Tony Ip will be a guest speaker for a talk on the topic of “Experimental Interactions with Nature in the City”

Abstract:

The higher we live from the ground level, the more disconnected we feel from the natural world and even from each other within a community. There has been an increasing demand for a peaceful and natural environment in urban areas, which has led to the growing trend of various green building rating schemes advocating urban greenery and human-nature interaction. Experimental public engagement projects explored urban nature from the perspective of urban dwellers in Hong Kong with a view to identifying significant elements associated with nature and effective methods of promoting human-nature interactions in a high-density urban city.

Children playground co-creation workshops

Thanks for amazing team works! We organized five children playground co-creation workshops involving over one hundred and twenty kids at age from 1.5 to 13. They imagined and drew playgrounds for their nature friends including butterflies and birds, and crafted benches in the playground for their parents, grandparents and people in need. Most of them are local residents and users of the proposed children playground. They inspired all of us!
